Tired of the Cycle of Quitting Your Tobacco Habit – Break Out Now!
Are you thinking about giving up tobacco products? Don’t worry; you’re definitely in good company. However, one of the problems that many smokers face is that they have all of the intentions in the world of quitting smoking. They mark it out on their calendars. They really make it a priority to give up smoking, yet they find that deep down, they really can’t seem to give it up. It feels like you’re walking into this pit of despair and shame because you’re the only one that just can’t seem to give up smoking. Everyone else seems to be doing just fine without tobacco except you. Could you really be the only one, or is there really a cycle of smoking that is really that hard to break?
Yes, there is a cycle of smoking, and it’s really as hard to break as people talk about. A lot of the times nonsmokers don’t realize how difficult it is for longtime smokers to give up the habit, and it leads to them picking fun at the people that are desperately trying to do anything but smoke. It’s hard to realize that your family might not be in your corner as much as they should be. But what you need to really focus on is simple: nicotine is a drug. Granted, it’s a legal drug and it’s one that millions of people indulge in every single day. But that doesn’t meant hat it’s a drug that’s good for you. That doesn’t mean that it’s a drug that you should be turning to when you just can’t seem to make anything else work for you. You will need to do a few things in order to break out of the cycle of tobacco products.
First and foremost, you need to really study why you smoke, and what type of reactions it brings out of you. Do you mainly smoke in social environments where you would feel out of place if you didn’t smoke? On the other hand, are you the type of smoker that really just needs to be in a position to smoke because you’re stressed? Keep in mind that we’re not making fun or you or trying to make fun or how much smoking can take over your life. We’re being absolutely honest here. If you’re not careful, smoking really can take it out of you, and it’s really no picnic at all to find that you have to really think about everything so carefully when it comes to smoking. It’s a lot easier to just think about the life that you want and then visualize a life without smoking. It can be hard, but the assumption that a lot of smokers make is that they don’t have to get help. They don’t need support groups. They don’t even need to talk to their doctor for anything. They can beat it on their own. However, this is not really what you want to think about in the grand scheme of things. It would be better to assume that yes; you really do need help in order to tie things together. You really do need someone that can reach out to you and make you realize how serious it is to keep smoking. Some people go their whole life smoking and not realizing how damaging it is to their bodies, but there’s nothing that says that you have to be like that yourself.
It’s wiser to think about the road out of smoking, the road that makes the most sense to you. Part of avoiding the cycles means avoiding the idea of quitting cold turkey. You might think that you should just quit smoking cold turkey, but that’s not really a good idea either. You’re only going to end up hurting yourself in the long run because you are basically putting a huge shock on the body. your body isn’t going to take that lying down, and that’s when the problem comes in. You’re so busy trying to avoid nicotine that pretty soon, that’s all your body really focuses on. There’s no crime in tapering down until you really don’t reach for cigarettes anymore.
We know that it’s going to take time for good habits to settle in. Don’t beat yourself up. Keep a diary if you need to so you can track how you feel and then act accordingly. Some people like to actually look back and see their progress. No matter what, know is the time to believe that you can do it and then go out and do it — what are you waiting for? You can lead a life without smoking, but it’s up to you to actually build an action plan that gets you out of the cycle of tobacco products once and for all!
